They’ve each had an April to remember, so how likely is it that the Brewers’ Christian Yelich and the Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger keep it going and make this one of the best MVP races of all time? Tigers prospect Casey Mize won’t win any Major League Baseball awards this year, but after throwing a no-hitter in his Double-A debut, he’s sure showing why he was the No. 1 pick last year. Elsewhere, the Dodgers got some bad injury news, the Yankees get MORE bad injury news and the Cardinals get some bad injury news caused by their own guy.
There’s one day left in April for Christian Yelich (who’s day-to-day with a sore back) or Cody Bellinger to hit his 15th home run. The good news is there’s five more months in the season to keep watching these guys.
Yelich-Bellinger could be MVP race for the ages

It’s one thing to get called up to Double-A in your first full season as a pro. It’s another to throw a no-hitter in that Double-A debut. Take a bow, Casey Mize.
HE DID IT. NO-HITTER.
First minor league career complete-game and NO-HITTER for #Tigers Casey Mize and the first overall for Mize since his no-no for @AuburnBaseball on May 9. #WarEagle
One word to describe his AA debut — 🔥 sensational 🔥:

As well as the Dodgers have been hitting, new acquisition A.J. Pollock hasn’t been a part of that. We might know the reason why now.
AJ Pollock has an infection in his elbow. Further testing will happen. Likely an IL situation. Same elbow he’s had surgery on in the past.

If you play for the Yankees, there’s a good chance you might be injured, even if you don’t know it yet.
Looks like DJ Lemahieu might go on the DL.
The Yankees are like zombies. No matter how mutilated or torn up they are… they just keep coming and coming and coming.

There are injuries, and then there’s this. Cardinals prospect Alex Reyes joined the injured list because he broke his finger punching a wall after a bad minor-league start.
“He made a rash decision that literally and figuratively hurt him.”
Alex Reyes punched a wall, broke a finger and now faces a potentially longer road back to the #STLCards big-league team. The latest: https://t.co/FDpo66d86i
